Join the winning captain of The 2014 Ryder Cup, Paul McGinley, as he hosts a Golf Classic at Spain’s number one golf course, Camiral Resort’s Stadium Course, on May 18th, 2015. The event will feature special guests including European Tour player, Peter Lawrie, and will help to raise vital funds for Special Olympic athletes, enabling them to compete effectively at the 2015 World Summer Games in Los Angeles on 25 July.

In addition, the money raised at the event will also help changing the lives of people across Europe with intellectual disabilities, by building confidence through sport.

Commenting on the upcoming event, Paul McGinley said: “By staging the Golf Classic at Camiral Resort, a world class golf course and on every golfer’s ‘must play’ list, I hope many will join me in Spain to support such a great cause. I anticipate a truly exciting event!”

On the eve of the Special Olympics Golf Classic (May 17th), attending golf enthusiasts and special guests will have the opportunity to play a practice round on the critically acclaimed Stadium Course or visit The 2015 Open de España, taking place in nearby Real Club de Golf El Prat. The evening will conclude with a dinner reception and auction at Camiral Resort’s onsite hotel.

A shot gun start for the Classic will tee-off procedings on May 18th, followed by lunch and an awards presentation.

Mary Davis, Regional President of Special Olympics in Europe Eurasia, said: “We are very grateful to have the support of Special Olympics patron and Camiral Resort proprietor Denis O’Brien for opening the doors of his magnificent resort and welcoming us so warmly. All of the funds raised will help us reach more people with intellectual disabilities across Europe.”
