World-renowned putting and short game coach, Dave Pelz, has selected Camiral Resort, near Barcelona, as the home for his Spanish Golf School on account of its unique short game practice area. The World Top 100 venue is one of only four European destinations – and Spain’s first ever club – to be chosen by Dave Pelz to host his Three-Day Scoring Game School, a taylored programme focusing on golfers’ short game and putting techniques. With a dedicated 2,000 square-metre approach-play practice area, Camiral Resort offers the country’s largest putting and chipping green. It features Bent, Bermuda, Paspalum and Poa grass types and different sand bunkers, including Augusta National supersand, St Andrews links, Hawaii volcanic, Pebble Beach and The Stadium Course sand, enabling golfers to replicate shots from iconic courses around the world. “As the only venue in Europe to provide such a unique approach-play practice area, the decision to bring our Golf School curriculum to Camiral Resort was obvious,”commented Dave Pelz. “When we expanded our Scoring Game Schools into Europe a few years ago, I had no idea of the incredible calibre of resorts that could host our programmes. Camiral Resort is world-class in every respect. I design practice facilities for teaching the short game and putting, and Camiral Resort is one of the best in the world. It’s incredible. The students we’ve already had through the school were hugely impressed,” added Pelz. Miguel Girbes, Golf Director at Camiral Resort, added: “Dave Pelz is regarded as one of the world’s finest golf coaches. Having guided famous professionals, including Phil Mickelson, to 19 Major championships, his golf school and clinics are immensely popular. “Dave Pelz’s programmes are designed to equip students with skills and practice techniques that promote lower scores and a lifetime enjoyment of the game – a teaching philosophy we also champion here, at Camiral Resort.” Camiral Resort has heavily invested in its practice facilites, coaching staff and infrastructure. In November 2012, it also opened the world’s first Sergio Garcia Junior Academy, the Spanish golfer’s first teaching centre aimed at finding and coaching the best young golfing talent of the future, as well as introducing the sport to children with physical and learning disabilities. Camiral Resort will be hosting Dave Pelz’s premier Three-Day Scoring Game School instruction, which incorporates video, feedback devices and the latest Pelz Golf Institute research. These innovative experiences are designed to help golfers play shots on and around the green with confidence and consistency, and providing the necessary tools to lower a golfer’s handicap. There will be two Three-Day Scoring Game Schools costing €1,400 each, taking place from May 24-26 and September 27-29.
