Ryder Cup Returns to Spain

We’re thrilled to announce that Camiral, nestled in the stunning Costa Brava near Barcelona, has been selected as the host venue for the 2031 Ryder Cup — marking a momentous milestone in the resort’s history and for Spanish golf as a whole.

A Historic Return

This will be the second time that Spain hosts the prestigious biennial competition between Europe and the United States, following Seve Ballesteros’s legendary captaincy at Valderrama in 1997. With this announcement, Spain becomes the first country in Continental Europe to host the Ryder Cup twice, solidifying its place at the heart of European golf.

Why Camiral?

Camiral’s selection is a testament to its reputation as Spain’s number one golf and wellness resort. Since opening in 1999, the resort has hosted numerous high-level tournaments, including three Open de España and Catalunya Championship, and it has been a proud member of the European Tour Destinations network.

Located just an hour from Barcelona and five minutes from Girona-Costa Brava Airport, Camiral offers two championship golf courses — including the globally acclaimed Stadium Course — as well as state-of-the-art facilities like Europe’s largest short game area and Trackman range.

Building a Lasting Legacy

Beyond the competition itself, the 2031 Ryder Cup is set to deliver a powerful social and cultural impact. Authorities have outlined plans for initiatives to promote golf, encourage social cohesion, and drive sustainable tourism across Catalonia.

Honoring a Rich Spanish Golfing Heritage

From legends like Severiano Ballesteros and José María Olazábal to today’s stars like Jon Rahm, Spain has contributed immensely to the Ryder Cup story. Since 1979, at least one Spanish golfer has represented Europe in every edition, and figures like Sergio García, the all-time Ryder Cup points leader, have left a lasting mark.

Camiral 2031 will celebrate this legacy and inspire future generations, just as the 1997 edition did.

Ready for a New Chapter

Hosting the Ryder Cup is more than an event — it’s a celebration of excellence, legacy, and global unity through sport. We can’t wait to welcome the world to Camiral in 2031 and make history together.

Stay tuned as the journey to Ryder Cup 2031 begins!
